The real voyage of discovery is not seeking new landscapes, but having new eyes. (Proust)
2011 PHOTO/GEOLOGY WORKSHOP:
THE OWYHEES and JORDAN CRATERS: Volcanoes of the High Desert!
JUNE 23-26, 2011
Dago Gulch, Owyhees
The 2011 Geo/Photo Workshop explored the remote and fascinating Owyhees, June 23-26. In the chiseled landscape, the remnants of powerful ancient volcanoes provide an intricate landscape of unusual forms and colors. Our trips to Jordan Craters, Leslie Gulch, Succor Creek, and other less renowned, but equally scenic locations yielded wonderful images. We shot and learned about these extraordinary landscapes during the long days and lingering twilights. Treasures along the way included sunsets over a field of blooming purple vetch, the discovery of owls among the outcrops, and lasting friendships.
